Unblock me (free version) is a simple yet complex puzzle gamer where the player moves around various wooden blocks on the level in hopes of removing the red block from the screen.  While the game looks easy for many puzzle enthusiasts on first appearance, remember that there is more than meets the eye with this game.  With over 600 puzzles in the free version alone, don’t be surprised if you find yourself addicted to this simple puzzle game.

Graphics: 7

Being a very simple puzzle games, players should not expect much out of the graphics in Unblock Me.  The puzzle board itself is nothing more than wooden blocks with one red block. 

Sounds: 2

If you are expecting a game with beautiful music or interesting sound effects, you will find yourself greatly disappointed.  Unblock me only has two sounds, the normal clicking sound of the Iphone and a little victory sound when you pass a level.  Being someone who disables the clicking on my phone, I found this to be quite annoying while playing since the phone clicks every time you move a piece.   .   

Game Play: 8

When first entering the game, don’t be surprised if you find yourself a bit confused.  Unblock me itself comes with no instructions and if you read the information before downloading the game, it is a bit misleading, making you think the pieces can be moved in any way on the board.  In actuality, they can only move up or down, left or right depending on if the piece is placed horizontally or vertically at the start.  If the piece is vertical, it can only be moved up and down.   Once players get over this road block, they will find that the game run smoothly and is very simple to play.

Unblock Me has two game modes that can be played on both the free and pay version: relaxed mode and challenge mode.  While playing on the challenge mode, the level counts how many moves it takes you to solve the level, adding it to your current statistics that are saved on your iPhone .  For players who like more of a challenge, there are also four different play modes, ranging from beginner to expert.  Once you have defeated these puzzles, you can then move on to the bonus mode, which has a variety of different extra puzzle.

Since the game seems very simplistic at first glance, most puzzle enthusiasts will expect to fly through this game, but even on the beginner mode, it quickly becomes more challenging, allowing players of various experience levels to have hours of fun playing this game.

Most puzzle enthusiasts will find themselves quickly becoming addicted to Unblock Me.   As long as you do not have high expectations for the game’s graphics or sound qualities, you will find yourself quickly falling in love this great puzzle game.  To unlock more levels and features, you can buy the full version of this game for $.99, but don’t worry, you will still find yourself busy for quite some time with the free version of Unblock me, which can be found in the IPhone Store.
