Free Hanging is a popular remake of the paper and pencil game that most puzzle enthusiasts have played at some point in their life.  Much like the classic game, you are given a number of slots to a mysterious word where you are to pick a letter to see if it fits in any of the blanks.

All of the graphics in Free Hangman are 3D drawings where an executioner is placed in a variety of different themed backgrounds as he prepares to execute his victims.  Even though some of themes are amusing, most are very bland or in some cases, an eyesore where the developer started mixing realistic and cartoon drawings to decorate the executioner for the said theme.

Most of the actual game play in Free Hangman is very straightforward, with a variety of letters placed at the bottom of the screen.  With a simple touch you can choose your desired letters.

Even if Free Hangman is not a very original puzzle game, it has a variety of different options that make the game interesting.  From the beginning, you can choose from a variety of different themes, including holidays and other special interests that place the executioner and victim in some very interesting situations.  What makes the game a bit more challenging, however, is the variety of different word lists that are available since include easy words, animals, various themes, ESL, and SAT words to better help puzzle players build on their current vocabulary.  Free Hangman for the IPhone also has two play modes, single and two players.

If you enjoyed playing the original hangman as a kid, you may enjoy playing this free IPhone game.  Unfortunately, you may find a bit more entertainment playing the old fashion way with pencil and paper if you want to play with a friend.

Compared to some of the other free IPhone applications available in the apple store, this game is a bit boring and uncreative.  Even though this game was made and designed for puzzle enthusiasts, most will find this game uninteresting.  I personally found the free version of the game intrusive since the ads can completely take control of your phone.  Unlike some of the puzzle games available, I cannot imagine paying for this puzzle game.
